Felt and batten replacement with re-use of existing tiles
See how a project evolves.
Scaffolding
Safety is always at the front of our minds. That's why, all our roofing work is fitted with fully health and safety compliant scaffolding.
Removal of tiles, felt and batten
Firstly the existing tiles are removed and set aside for re-use later. Then the degraded felt and batten is removed and placed into a skip on-site to ensure proper disposal.
Installation of new underlay
Once all of the existing materials have been removed. A new permeable underlay can be stapled to the rafters.
Battens
BS-treated timber battens are installed using nail guns, securing the timber and underlay into the rafters. The roof is now fully watertight and ready to be tiled.
Tile re-installation
With the battens in place, we can now begin nailing on the tiles we set aside earlier. The tiles which did not survive removal are renewed with tiles that will match the existing ones after weathering.
Installation of GRP dry valley system
See how a project evolves.
Removal of existing dry valley
Once the tiles have been removed and set aside, the existing GRP valley is removed along with the felt and battens underneath.
Installation of new GRP dry valley system
The new felt is installed first and then the GRP valley sits on top. The roofing battens will be cut to fit the new valley and fixed through the GRP into the rafters below.
Re-installation of tiles
Once the new valley is fixed into place the tiles that were set aside are re-laid. Any tiles abutting the valley are re-cut to ensure a proper fit.
